Electrical Utilities
The three counties of Gloucester, Mathews, and Middlesex are served by Virginia Power, and the three counties of Essex, King and Queen, and King William are served by Rappahannock Electric Cooperative.

Water and Sewer
Each of the three towns (Tappahannock, Urbanna, and West Point) of the Middle Peninsula operates a public water and sewer system. The Courthouse area of Mathews County has a sanitary district for sewer services. Gloucester County Courthouse area and lower Gloucester County are served by the Hampton Roads Sanitation District, which provides water and sewer services to these two areas. Gloucester County has a reservoir to serve water needs. The Middlesex County Courthouse area of Saluda is served by a private water system. In addition to these systems, various subdivisions throughout the region operate private sewer and/or water systems.

Solid Waste
All of the localities within the Middle Peninsula, except Gloucester County, operate under the Virginia Peninsula Public Service Authority’s Regional Solid Waste Management Plan. Gloucester County contracts with Waste Management, Inc. for solid waste disposal. Convenience and transfer centers with recycling programs are available in every locality.

Gas
Propane gas is available through private companies to commercial and residential consumers.

Telephone
Verizon provides landline service to all of the Middle Peninsula localities. Virginia Verizon Service Page

Internet
Private servers throughout the region offer Internet access through local telephone numbers. DSL and high-speed cable services are available in some areas.

Highways
The Middle Peninsula is served by a variety of primary and secondary highways. Roads are constructed and maintained by the Virginia Department of Transportation. Numerous industrial sites with water depths of twenty to thirty feet are available in the Middle Peninsula. Also, the Port of Hampton Roads is within approximately one hour travel time of the Middle Peninsula.
